Barron Canyon Map – Canoeing in Algonquin Park

One of my favourite trips as a kid was an annual 4 day canoeing excursion to Algonquin Park through the Barron Canyon. If only we could have had MapSherpa Topo Maps of Algonquin back then! We had a standard route worked out with the maps of the day and I remember looking at the maps wishing I could see the detailsĀ  between the contours and features that crammed the standard park maps.

Creating this series of Map Journal entries was a nostalgia trip that has me ready to pack up the canoe and hit the waters of the Barron River once again. Enjoy the maps and the stories they tell from the fun of Highfalls, to the tranquility of Opalescent Lake and the majestic beauty of the Barron Canyon in Algonquin Park.
