Custom Map Features

MapSherpa includes several features that allow you to customize the content on your map. These include the ability to import GPS data, and manually add points, lines, polygons, and labels. We also include a distance measurement tool for planning purposes.

For specific information on how you work with these tools check out our Mapping Help document.

GPS Data Import

MapSherpa allows you to import GPS data in .gpx format.  You can import both waypoints and tracks onto your map.  Once imported both types of features can be customized with unique symbols, labels and line colors.

Drawing and Annotation

MapSherpa allows you to annotate your maps with Points, Lines, and Polygons.

Points represent single locations on the map. MapSherpa has a variety of application specific point symbols for you to choose from.

Lines can be drawn to capture all the twists and turns of your route.  Once drawn you can modify and stylize color, thickness and opacity.

Polygons are shaped objects that can be created to highlight regional areas of interest. Like points and lines, they can be styled and labeled to suit your purposes.

Distance Measurement

The ruler button in the tool bar allows you to measure distances on your map. The tool allows you to calculate distance by segment and displays the total distance in information box to the right of the measurement icon.
