Burstall Pass Map – Day Hike

Burstall Pass trail is a great day hike if you are in Alberta’s Kananaskis Country.  It can be found along the western side of Peter Loughheed Provincial Park.  The trail is an excellent day hike that offers great views along the way to the pass and even more when you arrive.  Along the way you pass the three small but scenic Burstall Lakes.

The trailhead begins along the Smith-Dorrien Trail (Alberta Secondary Road 742) part way between Canmore and Kananaskis Lakes.  The trail begins as an old logging road providing relatively easy travel until you have to begin the last scramble up the pass.  The hike is relatively straightforward but at about the 4km mark it is necessary to cross Burstall Creek and although there is a footbridge, water levels may dictate some wading so a pair of sandals or runners could come in handy.
